Defensive midfielder Jay Spearing could return to the squad having missed the last two matches with a hamstring injury. Winger Stewart Downing could get a recall after only being a substitute last weekend while Dalglish will decide if he will field Craig Bellamy twice in four days.

Manchester City will be without striker Mario Balotelli having accepted a four-match ban for violent conduct which was charged by the FA after his act went un-noticed by the match referee. Meanwhile, Captain and defender Vincent Kompany is already unaavailable as he completes a four-match suspension for his sending-off in the FA Cup loss to Manchester United.
Midfielder Yaya Toure and defender Kolo Toure are playing with their respective countries for the AFrican Nations Cup but other then that Mancini has no new fresh injuries to worry about.
