Manchester City
Champions Manchester City were possibly lucky to take a point at Upton Park last weekend. Nolan scored a goal that was ruled out for offside but looked about level to me.
With Manchester United beating Chelsea, Manchester City are in 3rd place and trail Chelsea by 2 points.
Man City remain the only unbeaten side in the league now. To their credit despite being far from on top of their game right now they continue to pick up at least a point each week.
At home Mancini's men have won 4 of their 5 games. The only side to hold them was Arsenal in a 1-1 draw. Southampton (3-1), QPR (3-1), Sunderland (3-0) and Swansea (1-0) have suffered defeats here and it's fair to say they are of a lower quality than Spurs.
Back to back league clean sheets will encourage the boss but how Swansea didn't score against them remains a mystery. Ajax got another 2 against them this week in Europe and the back line is far from stable.
Tottenham
Spurs lost at home to Wigan last weekend in the shock result of the season for me. AVB is under pressure from the fans after he subbed Defoe when 0-1 down. They sit in 6th but share the same points tally as Everton and WBA in 4th and 5th so this is a big game for them to at least keep up with their rivals.
Tottenham come into the game having lost 2 of the last 3 league games having lost to Wigan last weekend (0-1) and to Chelsea (2-4). Strange that both losses have been at home and perhaps they will have better luck away from home.
The form away from the Lane is good. Spurs lost at Newcastle (2-1) on opening day but have won the next 3 against Reading (1-3), United (2-3) and Southampton (1-2). After winning at Manchester United they won't fear coming to Manchester City and a few years ago won here to secure a Champions League place.
In the last 3 away games Spurs have scored 2 or more so they should have success against a side that is struggling defensively. If they can keep that scoring up and get 2 I can't see them losing this game.
Betting Verdict
The hosts have won the last 3 against Spurs and I think they just have enough to do so once again at the weekend. Manchester City are odds on and the asian line isn't ideal, so I will back them via the Ladbrokes Quatro market.
Man City to win the game and at least 3 goals scored in total is my bet. City as mentioned above are sure to concede at least 1 to Spurs given the visitors attacking threat and the hosts poor back line.
I can't trust Spurs to hold on though unless they get a second. I'm not saying they can't score 2 here but with City all but out of Europe I expect a backlash at the weekend.
The hosts are an excellent home side and I don't expect them to let a lead slip like they did v Arsenal. Home win and goals for me.
Good Luck
