The Tigers come into this match having had a weekend off following their gutsy 16-13 defeat to Parramatta in Round 22. That result was disappointing on the scoreboard, but there were plenty of positives in the performance when they were short of many personnel.
Wests stayed in the contest for the full 80 minutes and showed considerably more defensive resilience than we have seen from them in previous seasons. Clinton Gutherson remains one of the most important players in the side. His experience and organisation from the back give the Dragons stability, while Valentine Holmes provides a genuine point of difference with his running game and goal-kicking albeit, he has been very disappointing in 2026 on big money for St George. St George, meanwhile, welcome back Ryan Couchman, setting up an intriguing battle between two developing forward packs.
St George are placed last, winning just their third match of the season against the Sharks last weekend in what was a monumental upset. They have managed more than 24 points only once this season, highlighting just how difficult it has been for them to consistently put teams away. That statistic makes this matchup fascinating because Wests have also struggled to produce points. This could very easily become a game where one or two individual moments decide the outcome

Overall H2H is in favour of the Dragons 22-26 and St George won the only meeting of 2026 24-10. Neither team has a great record at the venue, Wests 18-30 while the Dragons are even worse 6-20.
I think the first half could be particularly ugly. Both sides should be conservative, relying heavily on their kicking games and trying to win the territorial battle. The team that can force the first mistake may gain a significant psychological advantage.
