English League One
2010-01-30 - Bristol Rovers vs Wycombe Wanderers
A Sports Betting Pick by Armchair
Football : England : Coca Cola League One
Saturday 30th January 2010 – Kickoff 3pm
I’m hoping to get back on track with my predictions this weekend, and first stop is The Memorial Ground where Bristol Rovers take on a Wycombe side desperate to avoid the trap-door to League Two.
Bristol Rovers (9th) Home : 8-1-3 18:12
Rovers will be looking for their sixth home win on the trot and stay within touching distance of the play-off pack. This run has included a very good 3-0 win over play-off candidates Swindon Town, amongst expected wins against the likes of Carlisle Utd 3-2, 2-1 v Gillingham, 1-0 v Exeter City & 2-0 v Hartlepool United.
The Gasheads’ home record stands at 8-1-3 18/12, and two of their three home losses were strangely to sides they should have beaten; 1-2 v Leyton Orient (first home game of the season) & 1-2 v Yeovil Town. The other loss was a 0-4 reverse to Leeds Utd, but I’ll forgive them for that!
Anyway, they’re now on a roll and with players like Jo Kuffour (7 goals), defender Jeff Hughes (7 goals), midfielder Chris Lines (6 goals) and set-piece provider Stuart Campbell (7 assists), you can see they can pose a threat from each area of the park.
Incidentally, Rovers have kept a clean sheet in their last three home games.
Wycombe Wanderers (23rd) Away : 1-5-8 13:29
Sadly for Wycombe, it looks like the game’s up for them this season unless they have a dramatic change of fortunes; they’ve won only one game on their travels this season so far which was a rather surprising 2-0 win at The New Den upsetting Millwall in their own backyard.
Since then though, they haven’t won a game since and only scored twice in their last five away games; 0-1 at Southampton, 0-1 at Carlisle Utd, 0-4 at Yeovil Town and 1-1 at Southend Utd, although they did hold Leeds United 1-1 also recently.
For the record, Wycombe’s away record reads 1-5-8 13/29, with only Gillingham (31) conceding more away goals.
The Betting Verdict :
So it doesn’t look good for Wycombe as they travel to Bristol, and I’m hoping the bookies have got the price wrong on this one also.
Good luck!
