Analysis:

Bologna are dangerously close to the relegation spot but are trying their best to stay in Serie A come next season. Franco Colomba’s side sit two points ahead of 18th-placed Atalanta but goes into this match having lost four out of their last five games.

Parma, on the other hand, are sitting comfortably in mid-table, enjoying their last few games before the season comes to a close. Coach Francesco Guidolin has done a great job and deserves full credit for their achievement from Serie B and now staying in Serie A.

Bringing in the likes of Valeri Bojinov through loan transfer showed his capabilities in managing and if it weren’t for Claudio Ranieri’s extraordinary feat at Roma, he would surely be up there for Coach of the Year.

If Bologna does stay up this season then the management team will have to do a serious inquiry into why the team has struggled because they cannot attribute it to injuries alone. Bologna have only midfielder Nicola Mingazzini and Palermo loanee Roberto Guana unavailable through injury, so injuries cannot be blame due to their poor form. The good news is that both are expected to return for the final game of the season, which could well decide their fate for them.

For Parma, they are missing the likes of former Milan forward Alberto Paloschi who misses out through injury and is joined on the treatment table by captain Stefano Morrone and defender Damiano Zenoni, who is ruled out for the season. Meanwhile centre-back Alessandro Lucarelli is out with a one match ban.

The Odds are mighty fishy for this match, which suggest that Parma who have nothing to play for will not contest this match and could already have their mind and soul not on the football pitch.
