Match Preview :

Scotland must win this match against Lithuania to keep alive their slim Euro 2012 dream alive. The Scots are still furious after Dutch referee Kevin Blom awarded a penalty to the visitors in the final few minutes of Saturday's match at Hampden, despite there appearing to be no contact between defender Danny Wilson and Czech forward Jan Rezek.

Then Michal Kadlec slammed home the spot-kick to deny Scotland the win, who were infuriated still further when referee Blom failed to award a penalty at the other end minutes later when Christophe Berra appeared to be fouled in the box.

As it is now, Scotland are five points behind the Czechs in the race to finish second behind runaway leaders Spain in Group I. With the world and European champions to come in their final group game, Scotland have to win against Lithuania on Tuesday and away to Liechtenstein on October 8th to have any chance of making a play-off spot. Even still, the Czechs have to drop points in their final group matches against Spain and Lithuania in order for his side to have any hope.

Going into this clash, Scotland have won three and drawn one of their last four meetings with the visitors, who have lost seven of their last eight away internationals, failing to score in each of the last three.

Mathematically, Lithuania also have a chance of finishing second, but they would need to win both of their remaining games against Scotland and the Czech Republic as well as relying on results elsewhere.

Team News :

However it does not look good for Scotland with Kenny Miller and Scott Brown who will miss the game after picking up yellow cards on Saturday, while Craig Mackail-Smith and Charlie Adam have pulled out due to injury. This means that the pressure will be on the shoulders of young Blackburn striker David Goodwillie, who is set to start a Scotland game for the first time in what would be only his second international apperance.

Meanwhile, Alan Hutton (groin) and Phil Bardsley (dead leg) are also doubts, but Rangers full-back Steven Whittaker and Blackburn's Grant Hanley are available again after suspension and illness respectively.

Lithuania coach Raimondas Zutautas is expected to make changes following their disappointing goalless draw at home to Liechtenstein on Friday. The visitors will be without winger Edgaras Cesnauskis, who was sent off late on in that game.

Prediction :

Go for Scotland to win here but expect a 1-0 or 2-0 scoreline.

Cheers and good luck,
Cruiser
