Manchester City goes into the final day of Matchday Six knowing that they must beat Bayern Munich if they are to keep their Champions League hopes alive.

Even a win is not enough on it own for Manchester City as they need favours from the other teams. City must win this match and at the same time hope that and hope that Villarreal avoid defeat against Napoli in the night's other Group A fixture.

Manchester City were always aware that their first Champions League entry was never going to be an easy one with a tough group but many had expected them to progressed beyond the group stage. City knows there can be no more slip-ups if they are to progress further into the competition and they will be looking to make home advantage counts here.

The visitors are German giants Bayern Munich who come into this match already knowing they are guaranteed top spot and a place in the next round. That means that they could name a weakened side, allowing Bayern to rest key men and that could be to the advantage of Man City.

For the record, Bayern have not fared done well on English soil in the past, winning just two of their last 16 European matches in England - and losing their last three in a row.

But it should also be noted that Bayern Munich have, however, lost only one of their last seven away games in the Champions League and saw off City 2-0 in the reverse fixture back in September - the night which led to the now infamous Carlos Tevez controversy.

Mario Gomez scored twice at the Allianz Arena and the Germany international is the joint-top scorer in this season's competition, with six goals plundered in five outings.

Manchester City :
In-form City right-back Micah Richards is doubtful for the crucial continental clash tonight with Bayern. Richards has a slight calf problem and will be assessed prior to kickoff, but Pablo Zabaleta is on standby and could take his place after recovering from a knock sustained in last week's Carling Cup win at Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Gael Clichy is likely to continue at left-back with Aleksandar Kolarov out for around three weeks with a groin problem.

Bayern Munich :
As for the visitors, Bayern are expected to shuffle their pack, especially as illness has hit their squad. Arjen Robben and Toni Kroos are suffering with flu and will not feature tonight against City.

Thomas Muller and the in-form Gomez are also struggling, but they could still start this match. Bastian Schweinsteiger (collarbone) will definitely be missing for Bayern, but Breno has shaken off a knee problem and is back in training.
