Inter Milan is on a roll right now and Claudio Ranieri knows he can equal Jose Mourinho’s best run of form with Inter as they travel to face Lecce who managed just one win in their last five games coming into this clash.

Lecce knows it is not going to be an easy match to even get a point here as there is also the match with Udinese to come and the potential six-pointer in Week 22 with Bologna may not mean much if they are too far cut off from the safe zone.

Last weekend it took an excellent save from Massimiliano Benassi to deny Sergio Pellissier and then David Di Michele scored a 93rd-minute goal to salvage a point in a 2-2 draw at home to Chievo.

The result has left Leece still six points adrift of safety in 19th spot. Their goalkeeper Benassi commented that the gave a good fightback, but needed to win the match rather then salvaged a draw.

Serce Cosmi did go into the transfer market this week to bring in Livorno defender Leonardo Miglionicio, Parma midfielder Manuele Blasi and Fiorentina attacker Haris Seferovic. A move to bring in Emiliano Bonazzoli is also on the cards.

It remains to be seen what sort of impact the three signings will have on Lecce but as Di Michele expressed this week, their arrival is cause for optimism to move forward.

But will it be enough to welcome Inter having optimism alone? And should Inter Milan record an eighth successive League victory this weekend then Claudio Ranieri finds himself on the verge of matching Jose Mourinho’s best run of form with the club.

But first and foremost will be to return to the title challenge. With League-leaders Juventus playing third place Udinese and Milan only playing their game late on Sunday evening, it leaves Inter with the possible scenario of making up further ground on the leading pack.

However with Inter being eliminated from the Coppa Italia in midweek at the hands of Napoli in midweek so they know that nothing other then a win will suffice here.

Last season it ended in a 1-1 draw, but take note that it is almost 12 years since Inter last failed to score in an away match at Lecce.
