ASTON VILLA
Aston Villa are one of my top form sides in the competition right now - and with the battle for 5th place with Everton going right down to the wire they look a good bet here.
I prefer to back sides that are scoring goals and Villa are certainly doing that bouncing back from a 0-4 thumping by Manchester United to score 4,6,5, and 2 in their last four games.
Villa have multiple goal threats in John Carew and Gabriel Agbonlahor (he has scored in each of the last 4 games) and are also one of the best teams at converting set pieces meaning that players like Lausen, Barry and Young are also popping up with goals.
With Everton facing Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday, Villa know that win will put themselves into 5th place overnight, and it might be a position that they hold onto.
So plenty of motivation to go for the win.
WIGAN ATHLETIC
Wigan are safe from the drop for another season, but this year that has been acheived almost soley on their home form at the JJB Stadium where they've picked up 29 of their 37 point total.
Travelling Latic fans have not had too much to cheer about as Wigan have run up a 1-5-12 record which includes four defeats in their last six games.
There have been some good results for Wigan, including a 1-1 draw at both Everton and Chelsea, but overall the away goals difference of 11-34 speaks volumes about the usual result.
HEAD TO HEAD
Wigan had been enjoying playing Villa in the last couple of years - getting some good results.
However Aston Villa finally got a win this season winning 2-1 at the JJB Stadium in the reverse fixture, signalling that the "bogey" had been broken.
THE VERDICT
I have Aston Villa as good solid favourites for this match, especially with their good goal scoring run.
If you don't like the lowish price on the home win - then you could try a "Score anytime" bet on one of the Villa front two.
