Analysis:Barcelona travels to already relegated Real Murcia looking to fend off the challenge posed by Atletico Madrid as they are now in danger of dropping into the fourth spot in the standings should they fail to win this match.
Barcelona will want to forget this season as they have failed to win any trophy and it is no surprise that Frank Rijkaard will be removed as manager and replaced by Pep Guardiola next season. But before leaving, Rijkaard will want to get maximum points against already relegated Real Murcia as their fate has already been sealed some weeks ago.
Barcelona have won just once in their last eight games when they defeated Valencia 6-0 at the Nou Camp. They are coming into this match on the back of two defeats as they were beaten by Real Madrid 4-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium and in their last match beaten 2-3 by Real Mallorca at home!
However when you consider that their opponents have nothing left to play for and could field some young players in the side, then Barcelona could be the favourite to register only their second win in eight matches here.
Real Murcia, as did Barcelona beat Valencia 1-0 at home as well, which was their only win in their last eight games. They have failed to win their last three home games managing a draw against Sevilla when it ended goalless and defeats against Real Mallorca 1-4 as well as Athletic Bilbao 1-2. Since beating Valencia 1-0 at home, they have gone six matches without a win and are currently on a three match losing streak going down to the likes of Racing 3-2 (away), Athletic Bilbao 1-2 (home) and Osasuna 2-1 (away).
Though Barcelona is down at the moment and have suffered back to back defeats, I just cannot see any way this relegated Real Murcia side getting a draw here or even a surprise win over the Catalan Giants. Barcelona to win on the night, but can they win by more than two goals is the question?
