English League One
2011-09-17 - Hartlepool United vs Bury
A Sports Betting Pick by ArmchairPunter
Football – England – League One
Saturday 17th September 2011 – Kickoff: 1500hrs
Hartlepool United entertain early strugglers Bury at their Victoria Park ground on Saturday knowing a win would almost inevitably take them into the play-off places.
Surprisingly, Bury have struggled so far this season and they currently sit in 19th place having won just two games so far this season ... but more about them later on.
Hartlepool united
Hartlepool United, along with Charlton and Huddersfield, remain unbeaten both home and away so far which has seen them occupy 7th place and provide early momentum. Their home record so far stands at 1-2-0 3/1 which has seen them draw against Walsall and Huddersfield, whilst beating Exeter City 2-0 in their last home league match.
They go into this match full of confidence following a 2-1 away win at Carlisle United which is not the easiest place to take three points and no doubt Pools will be delighted with that result.
Striker Adam Boyd (4 goals) is on good early form, along with midfielder James Poole (3 goals) and Gary liddle has also popped up with a couple of crucial goals. Assists have also been provided by midfielders Paul Murray and Andy Monkhouse (2 assists each). Forward James Brown is also a dangerous customer.
Bury
Bury on the other hand, have suffered four straight defeats at the hands of Charlton 1-2 at home, 0-4 away at Sheffield United, 2-4 at home to Rochdale and a 0-1 defeat at Chesterfield. Their away record stands at 1-1-2 3/6, and haven’t scored an away goal in their last two road trips.
The Shakers recently lost influential midfielder Ryan Lowe who was their leading scorer with 3 goals who moved to League One rivals Sheffield Wednesday and this has severely dented their creativity and goalscoring departments.
They still have forwards Andy Bishop (1 goal, 1 assist), Shaun Harrad and Mark Cullen, but they are really yet to fire as a previously free-scoring Bury struggle to find the net.
Head to head
Head-to-head, Hartlepool have the upper hand in recent exchanges having lost just once in their last four meetings with Bury on home turf.
The Betting Verdict
I feel Hartlepool have the greater confidence, the home advantage and more in the creativity stakes than visitors Bury, so I’m looking to Hartlepool to secure another home win at good prices.
The Pick :
Hartlepool to win 2-0.
