Everton
It was an interesting week for Everton fans who heard their owner talking about winning the Premier League in his plans to improve the club. A move to a new Stadium could happen as soon as the next three years, while there is no doubting the amount of investment Farhad Moshiri is willing to put into the playing staff with Everton being amongst the big spenders of the last couple of seasons.
With that in mind Marco Silva has to be feeling some pressure as manager with some fans showing signs of unrest during a very poor run of form. At least Everton avoided a shock in the FA Cup Third Round as they return to Premier League action for a couple of weekends and the chance to improve their 11th place in the table. The Toffees have a 5-3-3 record at home in the League where they have scored 18 goals and conceded 16.
Everton have won 1 of their last 9 Premier League games and they have been beaten in 4 of their last 5 which is a concern. Last weekend they did beat Lincoln City 2-1 at home, but Everton have not won any of their last 4 home Premier League games and both Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City have won at Goodison Park in the last 2 League games here.
There are no new injury concerns for Everton ahead of this fixture.
Bournemouth
The fans might not be as happy as they would have wanted to be at this time of the season with the likelihood of Bournemouth's remaining four months of the season being unspectacular. Eddie Howe won't be too concerned as he keeping Bournemouth in line with prolonging their stay in the Premier League which is the main ambition of the club every season.
You can't deny the FA Cup defeat to Brighton last week would have hurt the Bournemouth fans who would have hoped for a long Cup run to bring some excitement to the club in the second half of the campaign. Instead The Cherries look pretty secure in 12th place in the Premier League table and they will be looking for a top half finish.
Bournemouth have won 1 of their last 8 games in all competitions and the slump in form has seen them lose 6 of those games. The away form has been even worse with Bournemouth losing 6 straight games on their travels in all competitions and 5 of those have come in the Premier League.
Dominic Solanke has been signed from Liverpool, but he is not expected to be available until February as he recovers from injury. Ryan Fraser and Josh King are expected to be available, but Callum Wilson is a doubt as rumours surround him of a potential move to Chelsea.
Head to Head
Everton blew a 0-2 lead at the Vitality Stadium in a 2-2 draw earlier this season.
Everton will now be hosting Bournemouth for only the sixth time in history and they have won all 5 previously played.
Prediction
The first of the two live games to come from the Premier League is from Goodison Park as Everton host Bournemouth in an important game for both clubs.
Neither team has been in very good form in recent weeks, but at least Everton found a way to come through the FA Cup Third Round which may give them a tiny bit more momentum.
The Everton home form has been far below the level that would be expected, but Bournemouth have been really struggling away from home which has seen them lose 6 straight games on their travels in all competitions. The Cherries have conceded at least two goals in their last 5 away Premier League games which have all ended in losses, and they look like they have a few more injury concerns in the squad that has to be dealt with.
Confidence is going to be a problem for Everton considering the uneasiness the supporters have expressed in recent games at Goodison Park. If they don't make a positive start to this fixture you could see the fans begin to voice their discontent a little louder, but I think Everton will be able to edge out a team who are conceding too many goals.
Everton do have a very strong home record against Bournemouth and there is enough quality here to find the goals to win the game and I will back the home team to win a game that features two or more goals.
