Oxford United will be looking to return to winning ways in League One when they return to their Kassam Stadium following last Saturday’s heavy 3-1 loss away from home at AFC Wimbledon where they’ll play host to Wycombe Wanderers.
The defeat at Wimbledon became Oxford’s second away defeat on the trot after The U’s succumbed to a 2-1 loss away at Bolton Wanderers but it’s been Oxford United’s form on home soil at their Kassam Stadium which has really caught the eye.
Oxford United have won all three of their home games to date this season in League One with victories gained over Charlton Athletic 2-1, Crewe Alexandra 1-0 and Lincoln City 3-1 respectively while forward James Henry (4 goals) has got his season off to a flyer.
Wycombe Wanderers sit just one league position and one point above their hosts, Oxford United, but they too were handed a defeat last time out when they lost 3-1 away from home at Sunderland which ended Wycombe’s unbeaten start to the season.
Wycombe had previously strung together a solid four-match unbeaten start to their League One campaign which included wins against Accrington Stanley, Cheltenham Town and Lincoln City.
However, two of Wycombe’s three wins to date have been achieved on home turf at Adams Park while results away from home, The Chairboys have struggled to produce results on a consistent basis.
Wycombe have managed to win just four of their last 13 away games in League One while this ordinary sequence of results also includes seven defeats and the visitors have won just one of the last seven meetings against Oxford United as well.
The Betting Verdict
Oxford United have impressed at home and look good value to win a fourth on the trot here.
