Torino fans must have been fearing the worst as their side were handed back-to-back defeats at the start of this new Serie A season, losing to Atlanta and Fiorentina, but Thursday’s hosts have reason to be fairly confident about their chances when they play host to Lazio at their Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.
Since those early defeats, Torino have managed to turn things around by recording two wins on the trot with victories gained over Salernitana 4-0 at home and a 1-0 win on the road at Sassuolo which gives them reason to believe that they can get a result on Thursday evening.
The fact remains though that Torino have won just four of their last 23 matches at home, so the prospects of a home win here seem slim here but goals could be in short supply here as Torino look to nullify the threat from Lazio.
Lazio started their Serie A campaign in impressive fashion as the visitors picked up two wins on the trot against Empoli and Spezia but the visitors have just gone off the boil in recent times following a 2-0 loss away from home at AC Milan and a 2-2 draw at home with lowly Cagliari.
It’s been Lazio’s poor results away from home though which have held them back as the visitors have lost eight out of their last 11 games on their travels and although they picked up wins on the road at Udinese, Verona and Empoli, the defeats have outweighed the minimal successes.
Seven of Lazio’s last 11 away games have also resulted in low-scoring affairs and under the 2.5 goals mark, while the visitors have also failed to score in four of their last five away games as well.

This could be a tightly fought battle between two sides struggling for form and goals could be in short supply as a result.
