Queens Park Rangers
It might only have been the third game of the Championship season, but Queens Park Rangers had been pushing to fight back from 2-0 down at Sunderland and even decided to send their goalkeeper up for a corner deep into injury time. An 87th minute goal had given Michael Beale's team hope, but it would have surprised even themselves when said goalkeeper, Seny Dieng popped up with the equaliser.
Michael Beale is hoping that further signings can be made if Queens Park Rangers are to push towards the top six like the fans will be hoping. After picking up 4 points from a possible 9 available, Queens Park Rangers are 10th in the Championship table and will be looking to make it two wins from two at Loftus Road.
Queens Park Rangers had a poor end to the last season and opened this one with a disappointing 1-0 loss at Blackburn Rovers, but they are unbeaten in 3 games in all competitions in normal time since then. Three goals in twenty-five minutes saw Queens Park Rangers lead Middlesbrough 3-0 in their only game at Loftus Road, although the side had to hold on for a narrow 3-2 victory.
Blackpool
Missed Penalties can hurt and Blackpool were punished for doing so against Swansea City on Saturday as they fell to a late 0-1 defeat at Bloomfield Road. Michael Appleton may be feeling some pressure with the fans yet to truly be behind the man who left Blackpool in his first stint in charge when a better offer was made to him after just twelve games at the helm.
Opening the season with a victory means Blackpool are in 17th place in the Championship table, although they have failed to add to the 3 points earned. The Seasiders have been dumped out of the League Cup in the First Round and Blackpool were well beaten in their sole away Championship fixture played.
Blackpool narrowly beat Reading 1-0 at home on the opening weekend of the Championship season, but they have not won any of 3 games in all competitions since then and have failed to score in all of those fixtures. The side were beaten 2-0 at Stoke City and Blackpool have now lost 3 of their last 5 away League games.
Head to Head
Queens Park Rangers took four points from Blackpool in the League last season.
The majority were earned at Loftus Road, despite Queens Park Rangers playing with ten men for 50 minutes in a 2-1 victory.
QPR are unbeaten in 12 at home against Blackpool, but had to settle for 3 draws in a row before the win in February 2022.
Prediction
Scoring goals has not been a problem for Queens Park Rangers this season, but they are making some signings to try and strengthen the backline.
If they can find that balance, a push for a top six finish cannot be ruled out.
This looks a good fixture for Queens Park Rangers on paper as they are facing a Blackpool team struggling for goals, but who have given up some big chances in all three League games played. Blackpool were well beaten at Stoke City in their only away fixture this season and I do think Queens Park Rangers can edge to the three points for a second time at Loftus Road.
