2008-04-28 - Derby County vs Arsenal FC
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Analysis:The last time these two sides met at The Emirates, Arsenal won that fixture 5-0, thanks to goals from Diaby, Adebayor (scoring a hat-trick) and Fabregas. Their head to head records also favours Arsenal as Derby have picked up just two points out of a possible 30 points since winning 3-0 at home on 1 November 1997. Derby has only managed one win against Arsenal in 13 meetings and also their only victory in 21 meetings in all competitions.
The only motivation for The Rams is to get four points and four goals to avoid being labelled the worst club ever in Premier League history. Interestingly Paul Jewell has yet to win since taking over the side and it is a tall order as Arsenal have yet to lose in 12 league and cup matches against Derby.
Arsenal enters this match as the favourite as they have won the last four in the Premier League, and the last three of those with an aggregate of 8-0. The last match as mentioned earlier saw Arsenal cruised to a 5-0 win with Adebayor claiming a hat-trick. To make things worse for the home side, they have yet to win in their past 15 home matches and have been on the receiving end at least 11 times at home this season managing to pick up just 8 points at Pride Park.
With regards to the team news, midfielder David Jones is rated doubtful with a calf injury and could face a late fitness test to prove his fitness. The likes of Marc Edworthy (cracked rib) ,Claude Davis and Giles Barnes (both knee) are all out of this match.
As for Arsenal, Arsene Wenger could decide to bring on Lukasz Fabianski in goal despite Manuel Almunia being fit after a wrist injury. The likes of Alexander Hleb is suspended until the end of the season while Abou Diaby (thigh), Mathieu Flamini and Bacary Sagna (both ankle) also misses out here.
Interestingly Arsenal have not been beaten in the last five against clubs from the Midlands and their record against teams away from home in the bottom five shows:
Beaten - Bolton 2-3
Drew - Birmingham 2-2
Beaten - Fulham 0-3
Beaten – Reading 1-3
Therefore go for Arsenal to win this match 2-0 and give the 1 1/2 ball here.
Cheers and good luck,
