6th placed Roma will be looking to make it eight league wins on the trot in the Italian top flight on Sunday evening when they entertain 5th placed Juventus at their Stadio Olimpico as both teams look to further their claims for a possible top four finish this season.
A 1-0 win away from home at Lecce last weekend brought up a total of seven wins on the trot which includes picking up victories at home against Monza, Como and Cagliari respectively, while the bigger picture shows Roma are currently enjoying a solid looking 14-game unbeaten sequence in Serie A.
11 wins within these previous 14 games has helped lift Claudio Ranieri’s side up into contention for a possible Champions League spot and their current form suggests the hosts will be tough to beat at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday evening.
Juventus bounced back from two defeats on the trot last weekend when the Old Lady registered a welcome 1-0 home win against Genoa which will have come as a huge relief having previously succumbed to losses at the hands of Atalanta and Fiorentina respectively.
The visitors had previously posted a five-match winning streak which included picking up wins on the road at Como and Cagliari while the bigger picture shows Juventus have suffered just three defeats out of their last 38 matches in Serie A which is some record.
If there is a possible chink in Juventus’s armour though, it may come in the shape of results away from home as Igor Tudor’s side have lost twice in the space of three away games which could prove to be the difference in what is expected to be a tightly fought contest.
