Lille’s inconsistent streak in the French top flight continued last weekend when the upcoming hosts registered a 2-1 win away from home at Toulouse but although Lille have won three and lost three of their last six games overall, Sunday afternoon’s hosts will fancy their chances of making it back-to-back wins when they welcome Auxerre to their Decathlon Arena.
Recent defeats at the hands of PSG, Nantes and Lyon were all inflicted upon Bruno Génésio’s side on their travels but these have been offset by picking up important wins against Montpellier, Lens and Toulouse respectively.
Lille are still only two points behind 3rd placed Monaco ahead of this weekend’s domestic top flight action and with a pretty solid looking home record of 9-3-2 25/15 behind them, Sunday’s hosts look in good shape to pick up all three points here.
Auxerre currently occupy a mid-table position of 10th place in the French Ligue 1 table and their recent four-game unbeaten sequence was brought to a halt by Lyon when they were handed a disappointing 3-1 loss at home last weekend.
The visitors recently picked up welcome victories against the likes of Reims, Montpellier and Rennes respectively but the bigger picture shows Auxerre have managed to capture just four wins from their last 17 matches overall which also includes slipping to six defeats as well.
In addition, an ordinary looking away record that stands at 3-3-8 18/28 doesn’t look like handing Auxerre any favours here this Sunday especially as the visitors have failed to beat Lille in each of their last four meetings.
