Nantes gained a creditable and useful looking point against the runaway French Ligue 1 leaders, PSG, on Tuesday night as the hosts held the Paris based giants to a 1-1 draw at their Stade de la Beaujoire and Antoine Kombouare’s side will be looking for more of the same when they entertain bottom half outfit Toulouse on Sunday afternoon.
Nantes currently occupy 14th place in the domestic top flight table where the hosts hold a four-point cushion over third from bottom club Le Havre and the relegation play-off spot ahead of this weekend’s fixtures.
Results overall this season are best described as patchy where Nantes have been concerned as the hosts have captured just four wins from their last 16 matches, but nevertheless, victories gained over the likes of Lens and Lille on home soil shows Nantes are no pushovers.
Toulouse sit just two league places and three points above their upcoming hosts and they too have experienced something of a turbulent time in recent weeks in the French top flight, slipping to five defeats on the trot.
Losses at the hands of Strasbourg, Brest, Marseille, Lille and Reims along with conceding a total of 12 goals suggest this upcoming trip to face Nantes could prove to be a tricky one for Carles Martínez’s side.
Indeed, the bigger picture shows Toulouse have managed to capture just two wins from their last 14 matches overall including slipping to eight defeats and although both wins were achieved on their travels by virtue of wins against Le Havre and Angers 4-1 and 4-0 respectively, the visitors have since lost their last three away games on the bounce.
