Mainz is one of the handful of sides that are still without a Bundesliga win after three matches. They lost to Koln and RB Leipzig (both 1-0 defeats), and in between, they played a 1-1 draw against Wolfsburg.
Now this game looks perfect for getting the first win of the season, considering that Augsburg is not doing well at the moment.
Winless Mainz has a game against Borussia Dortmund coming up next week, which means the pressure is higher on them than on Augsburg, who I believe have solid chances to beat Heidenheim next week.

Very little separates the sides here. Still, I consider Mainz a slightly better side despite their false start.
Mainz should be extra-motivated here for a first Bundesliga win against a team of almost equal quality, so I would back the visitors Mainz to win at valuable odds.
