Lausanne Sport extended their stubborn unbeaten run to four matches in all competitions during the week when the upcoming hosts registered a creditable 1-0 home win against Italian Serie A side Fiorentina in the UEFA Conference League.
Lausanne had previously been involved in three straight draws, two of which were in the domestic top flight against Lugano and Basel, along with a Conference League stalemate with Finnish club KuPS.
Peter Zeidler’s side have suffered just the single loss in their last six games overall which came in the form of a 2-1 loss away at Yverdon-Sport in the Swiss Cup but also includes recording an earlier win in the Swiss Super League at the expense of Thun in a 2-1 victory on home soil at their Stade de la Tuiliere.
Luzern sit third from bottom in the Swiss Super League table having slipped to three straight defeats in the domestic top tier at the hands of Thun 4-1, Young Boys 2-0 and a 2-1 loss to Basel respectively.
Recent overall form has certainly been a problem though for Mario Frick’s side as the visitors have managed to capture just the single win within their last eight matches across all competitions, that being a 4-1 romp away at non-league Zug 94 in the Swiss Cup.
However, Luzern have also been dealt no fewer than six defeats in these previous eight games which does not bode well for this upcoming trip to face Lausanne Sport, especially as four of these six losses were incurred on their travels.
