Union Berlin made history last week by appointing Marie-Louise Eta as their coach, the first-ever female coach in Europe’s top leagues. She is only an interim solution until the end of this season, but still a remarkable moment.
Union Berlin sacked their head coach, Steffen Baumgart, after a poor run of six winless games, with four defeats. Last week’s 3-1 defeat against the rock-bottom side of Heidenheim was the last straw, as it put Union Berlin in danger of relegation.
After Wolfsburg, their final four games of the season are against RB Leipzig (away), Koln (home), Mainz (away), and Augsburg (home). All those teams have high motives playing for something, and Union Berlin, in theory, needs one more win to stay safe.
Wolfsburg
Ever since Wolfsburg first gained promotion to the Bundesliga back in 1997, they have never been relegated. However, that is likely to change this season as they are hanging by a thread.
They are second from the bottom, 7 points behind the safe places with five games remaining. Chances exist, but their way of play doesn’t look promising that they can avoid the drop.
Perhaps this game against Union Berlin and next week’s against Borussia Mönchengladbach will be the key for them. Two wins are a must, but can they pull it off?
Wolfsburg suffered their third straight defeat last week, 1-2 against Eintracht Frankfurt, which was also their sixth defeat in the last seven Bundesliga games.
Wolfsburg is also winless in six straight on the road, losing four times.

Union Berlin is in a slightly more comfortable position, while Wolfsburg are in a “do-or-die” position.
Even a win for Wolfsburg will not pull them out of the automatic relegation spots, but a defeat or a draw will almost certainly mean they will drop out.
The visitors are under huge pressure and must win their next two games against direct rivals from the bottom half. Whether they could do it, I am not sure, but I am backing them to remain unbeaten here.
