Recent competitive meetings also give SC Paderborn reason for caution. SC Freiburg won 3-1 on Paderborn’s last Bundesliga visit in August 2019, while SC Paderborn won the most recent competitive meeting 3-1 at Freiburg in the 2023 DFB-Pokal.
The Bundesliga meetings from that 2019/20 season were split, with SC Freiburg winning 3-1 here before Paderborn won 2-0 at Freiburg.

SC Paderborn’s disciplined display at Mainz makes them difficult to dismiss, particularly at home, but SC Freiburg have started the season with much more attacking firepower.
