TSG Hoffenheim
TSG Hoffenheim have made a disappointing start to the season, taking only three points from their opening four Bundesliga games. They lost to Köln and Borussia Dortmund, beat VfB Stuttgart 2-1 and then suffered a 3-1 defeat at newly promoted SC Paderborn before the international break.
The attack has still shown plenty of promise. Adam Daghim has two goals and two assists already, meaning he has been directly involved in four of TSG Hoffenheim's seven league goals. The team has also been the Bundesliga's most effective side on counterattacks, scoring three times from just five shots following counterattacks.
There is a particularly good home record against Hamburger SV to consider. TSG Hoffenheim have kept six home clean sheets against HSV, more than against any other opponent apart from Augsburg, and have conceded less than a goal per home game against HSV on average. They have also won the last three meetings between the sides.
Hamburger SV
Hamburger SV finally picked up their first Bundesliga points of the season before the international break, beating Köln 2-1. That came after defeats against Borussia Dortmund, Mainz and RB Leipzig, with HSV scoring only twice across those four Bundesliga games and conceding a whopping 13.
Now they have lost two important attacking players. Patson Daka suffered a muscle tear in his left thigh while on international duty with Zambia and is expected to miss the coming weeks. Albert Gronbaek also picked up a thigh injury with Denmark and is unavailable. Gronbaek had been involved in four of Hamburger SV's five competitive goals this season, so his absence is a significant blow.
That leaves Hamburger SV short of two of their most important attacking players just as they travel to a TSG Hoffenheim side that has been particularly dangerous when winning the ball and attacking space.
The historical record also favors the hosts, with TSG Hoffenheim winning 10 of the 22 competitive meetings and only losing twice in Sinsheim.
The Betting Verdict
I like TSG Hoffenheim here despite their poor start. They have conceded too many goals, but their attack has enough quality to cause Hamburger SV problems, and HSV are now without both Patson Daka and Albert Gronbaek.
The home win combined with a couple of goals pays around 1.50-55, which is enough for me. TSG Hoffenheim have won the last three meetings, have a strong home record against Hamburger SV, and should create more chances in this match.
My main recommendation here is TSG Hoffenheim to win, combined with at least a couple of goals scored in the match.
