Augsburg have made an excellent start to the Bundesliga season, taking seven points from their first four games and scoring 11 times. They opened with wins over Schalke 04 and Eintracht Frankfurt, then drew 2-2 with Bayer Leverkusen before losing a 3-2 thriller at Werder Bremen before the International break.
Manuel Baum's side have also been particularly strong at home. They have lost only one of their last 13 Bundesliga matches at the WWK Arena, with that defeat coming against VfB Stuttgart in March. Their attack has been the biggest surprise, with 11 goals making this their most prolific start to a Bundesliga season.
Michael Gregoritsch has already scored three Bundesliga goals, including both of Augsburg's goals in the 2-2 draw with Bayer Leverkusen. The Austrian also scored for his country during the international break, so he comes into this one in good form.
Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich are still unbeaten and sit near the top of the table after four games. They began with a 5-1 win over VfB Stuttgart, drew 0-0 at Schalke 04 and then edged SV Elversberg 1-2 before producing a huge 7-0 victory over Union Berlin in their last game.
The away record is not quite as convincing as the overall numbers suggest. Bayern Munich have already dropped points at Schalke 04 and needed a late Harry Kane winner to get past SV Elversberg, so Augsburg should give them a much tougher test than their last 7-0 thrashing of Union Berlin.
The Bavarians will also be without Jamal Musiala after he suffered a muscle tear in his right thigh. The good news for Vincent Kompany is that Harry Kane and Michael Olise have started the season strongly, with Olise particularly productive in front of goal.
The recent head-to-head record still favors Bayern Munich (five wins in the last six duels), but Augsburg have shown they can trouble them. Augsburg won the most recent meeting with 1-2 at the Allianz Arena in January, while Bayern Munich edged the previous meeting at the WWK Arena 2-3.
The Betting Verdict
This is not a game where I want to take Bayern Munich at 1.15-20. Augsburg have scored 11 goals already, are very strong at home, and have already shown they can cause Bayern Munich problems.
I prefer another combo of Bayern Munich to win and both teams to score at around 1.75. Augsburg have enough attacking power to get on the scoresheet, but Bayern Munich still have Kane, Olise and plenty of other ways to hurt them.
I expect a much closer game than the odds on the straight win suggest, with a 1-2 away win as my score pick.
