2009-05-24 - Hull City vs Manchester United
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Analysis:Hull City will be hoping to take advantage of a Manchester United side that will be distracted with the upcoming European Final with Barcelona as they seek to stay in the Premiership.
Phil Brown who manages Hull City, knows that a win will definitely keep them up for another year and banish their poor performances in the second half of the season. They have managed just one win in their last 21 matches and now face the prospect of a return to the Championships.
But with United not expected to field their strongest team in preparation for the Champions League Final, Hull City will fancy their chances here. There has been talk whether Manchester United who have won the title will field their strongest starting eleven for this match but Sir Alex Ferguson could decided what is best for the team and give his key players a rest ahead of next Wednesday's UEFA Champions League final.
But whichever team that Manchester United picks on the day will surely be capable of doing themselves, and the Premier League, justice.
Hull's last Premier League home win came in early December when they beat Middlesbrough 2-1. The hosts will also hope to welcome back the likes of Kamil Zayatte and Bernard Mendy ahead of this match. Zayatte missed last week's 1-1 draw at Bolton, which lifted the Tigers out of the bottom three, due to concussion he suffered in the defeat to Stoke City. Mendy was out due to a toe injury, but will be fit ahead of this clash.
However, should Zayatte fail to recover in time then Kevin Kilbane will continue at centre-half as Anthony Gardner is still out with a back injury. Ian Ashbee and Jimmy Bullard who plays in midfield are out while on-loan striker Manucho is ineligible to face his parent club. That means that Caleb Folan is back from suspension will replace Manucho upfront. Craig Fagan and Daniel Cousin are the other options available.
For United, with Rome coming up in midweek, Sir Alex Ferguson is sure to make changes. Ferdinand could start this match ahead of the Barcelona clash so that he can prove his fitness. There has been talks that rookie keeper Ben Amos could start in goal, with Ferguson reluctant to risk Edwin van der Sar's understudy Tomasz Kuszczak following an injury to Ben Foster. Kuszczak, however, is likely to start, while Brazilian twins Rafael and Fabio is likely to start at full-back, with captain Gary Neville used at centre-half.
Darren Fletcher who is suspended for the Champions League Final will start. We could also see the likes of Darron Gibson, Rodrigo Possebon and Nani being involved at some stage. Federico Macheda and Danny Welbeck are in contention for a starting role and Carlos Tevez could be handed a start for what could be his potentially final Premier League appearance for the club.
