Bayern Munich’s 1-3 win against Augsburg last week came at a high cost, as their top player Jamal Musiala got injured. His absence was felt on Tuesday when Bayern Munich lost 1-2 at home to Inter in the Champions League, and now the Bavarians must find a way to bounce back.
They have been doing well in the Bundesliga, winning four of the last six matches and showing dominant displays. They have also been excellent at home, winning 12 of 14 games and five of the most recent six.
This may be an emotional game for Thomas Muller, who will play his final “Der Klassiker”. He is leaving Bayern Munich at the end of the season, and this will be his record 29th Klassiker game. That should certainly motivate his team even further.
Borussia Dortmund
Borussia Dortmund won back-to-back matches against Mainz and SC Freiburg in the Bundesliga but was destroyed 4-0 by Barcelona in the Champions League. They could have conceded 10 goals against the Spanish giants, so they were lucky with that modest defeat.
Visiting Munich will bring many negative memories, as Borussia Dortmund suffered five defeats in their last six trips there.
This entire season has been a disaster for Borussia Dortmund, although they still hope to catch the fourth spot. I don’t believe that is possible, especially not if they lose this game.
Borussia Dortmund has been one of the weakest away teams in Germany, winning only four of their 14 away matches.
Bad team news for them is the knee injury to Nico Schlotterback, who is now out for the remainder of this season.
The Betting Verdict
Bayern Munich has had no problems with Borussia Dortmund for several years now. The Bavarians won 12 of the last 13 duels across all competitions. They are a class above Borussia Dortmund this season, and I expect them to win again.
Here, I would go with a combination bet of Bayern Munich to win and at least three goals scored.
