Possibly the two best footballing teams in CONCACAF will meet Wednesday evening at the Azteca in Mexico City as Honduras visits.

Mexico moved to 3rd in the group in the last round of games and now has a good path to one of the top 3 spots.

Giovani dos Santos seemed to create all the action for Mexico in Costa Rica on Saturday. He has been quite a force for El Tri since the Gold Cup.

Mexico will be without two regulars (Franco and Torrado) on Wednesday due to yellow card accumulation, but the bulk of the playmakers will be on hand.

Mexico may have the best home advantage in the region with 19 consecutive home wins in World Cup Qualifying.

HONDURAS 1st Place (4-1-2 14:7)

Meanwhile Honduras sits atop the group (based on a better goal differential than the USA) thanks mainly to spectacular play from Carlos Costly and Carlos Pavon. They are a lethal duo and helped Honduras to a 3-1 home victory over Mexico in April.

However, Honduras are yet to grab an away win and have only managed 1 pt (vs Trinidad & Tobago) away from Honduras in this final stage.

In the prior stage of qualifying, the only away win for Honduras came in Canada, but there was also an away loss to Jamaica and a draw to Puerto Rico. Also in that stage Honduras fell 2-1 in Mexico City. Neither side was in its best form at that time.
