FC Brasov

A club with tradition in our league, from one of the biggest cities in Romania, but they have never won the championship or the cup. It would be a great performance for them to win the cup, and they seem to be closer than ever, but the timing of this semi-final could not be any worse than this.

FC Brasov is coming after 5 consecutive games without a win, losing 4 of them and conceding 10 goals. To make it even worse, all 4 losses came after games played against teams that are near relegation zone (Ceahlaul 17th, International 15th, Craiova 14th and Astra 10th).

Under these circumstances, the direction of the club gave the coach, Viorel Moldovan an ultimatum, he has to win this game in order to keep his seat. For Brasov winning the cup is the last opportunity to play in next European season because they are 10 points behind a place that would ensure them a qualification to the Europa League. Losing this game would mean a compromised season.

FC Brasov is facing some other problems beside the bad form, they might lose their main sponsor and the players accused some delays in received their financial rights, some of them have not received their salary since December.

Rui Duarte, left-back will miss this game due to a suspension.

FC Vaslui

Unlike FC Brasov, this club has no important tradition, and of course never won an important trophy. Again, unlike Brasov they are passing through a good period, with two consecutive victories which place them in 6th position, only 2 points behind the leader.

FC Vaslui just won a very important game against Rapid (1-0 on Monday), who is a direct competitor to an Europa League spot or why not even in the battle for title.

Last year FC Vaslui were eliminated by CFR Cluj in the semi-finals and this year their main objective is to win the cup, which would be their first trophy. The club owner, Adrian Porumboiu, made consistent investments in transfers over the last two years and he has great ambitions with this club.

These two teams played against each other recently, in the 20th stage of the championship, game finished in a draw (1-1).

Statistics are not very relevant in a game like this because the cup is known for surprise results, but the only unexpected result here considering the current situation would be a home win.
