Analysis:

Ireland goes into this match with an injury crisis which means that Giovanni Trapattoni will be forced to try out some young players ahead of this match. But one thing for sure is that Shay Given will win a record 109th cap when he leads out the Republic of Ireland against Norway at the Aviva Stadium.

Despite losing his place in the Manchester CXity side to Joe Hart, he has already featured five times for his country this season. The likes of Richard Dunne, Robbie Keane, Ciaran Clark, Kevin Kilbane, Caleb Folan, Paul McShane, Sean St Ledger and Paul Green are already out due to injuries.

In addition, Manchester United midfielder Darron Gibson failed to report for duty as his daughter is reportedly ill in hospital. Therefore Teenager Greg Cunningham will win his third senior cap in this match. The 19-year-old Manchester City defender, currently on loan at Leicester will start at left back.

Darren O'Dea will partner John O'Shea in central defence with Stephen Kelly on the right, while Liam Lawrence, Keith Fahey, Glenn Whelan and Damien Duff will form the midfield department. In attack, Kevin Doyle will link up with his former Reading team-mate Shane Long.

This match will be Ireland's first at home since they lost at home to Russia and the draw with Slovakia away from home. However, Trapattoni insists his young players will be out to prove a point.

The only absentee will be John Carew who players for Aston Villa as he is out witha calf injury.

Meanwhile, Erik Huseklepp who scored the match winner against the Portuguese in their last competitive match is expected to start in midfield with Thorstein Helstad in attack.
