Fourth from bottom Aldershot Town take on fellow strugglers AFC Wimbledon at the Recreation Ground on Saturday afternoon with both teams going in search of all three points today.

Aldershot find themselves two places and just three points above Plymouth Argyle who are in one of the two relegation places following a very disappointing season for The Shots who usually occupy at least a mid-table position but are in a bit of a tight spot at the moment.

Aldershot Town have won just twice in their last twelve league matches whilst this run is littered with draws (six in this run) along with defeats against Northampton Town, Plymouth Argyle, Morecambe and Burton Albion with three of the four defeats mentioned coming on home turf.

Aldershot’s home record stands at a shaky 5-4-10 18/25 and scoring goals at home has been a problem for The Shots all season with only bottom club Accrington Stanley (16 goals) scoring fewer home goals than them in the division. Just for the record, Aldershot have failed to score at home on seven separate occasions.

AFC WIMBLEDON

Visitors AFC Wimbledon were looking down the barrel at being relegation candidates prior to the Christmas period having won just twice in twelve matches, but since the New Year their results have steadily improved to the point now where they’ve climbed out of the bottom two on the back of three wins from their last five matches.

Wins for The Wombles over Dagenham & Redbridge 1-0, York City 3-2 and Southend United on Tuesday night 3-1 with two of those three wins coming away from home, have lifted them away from immediate relegation danger and they stand a good chance of getting something at Aldershot too.

Wimbledon’s away record stands at 7-2-9 23/34 and they’ve performed well at teams around them in the division with wins over Wycombe, Plymouth, York City, Torquay United, Rochdale and Dagenham which sets them up nicely for this trip.

THE BETTING VERDICT:

Aldershot seem uncertain at the moment while Wimbledon are looking for their third win on the trot. I’ll back Wimbledon with the handicap on offer to get at least a draw here today – 2-1 to Wimbledon.
