Saturday, 28th March 2010. Kickoff 14:30
Rubin Kazan
Reining champions Rubin Kazan is the only team with 100% point record after 2 rounds. Berdyev’s team is still plagued with injuries but is fortunate to have an easy schedule unlike most of their opponents. Rubin kicked off their 2010 campaign with a home victory against Lokomotiv, which was then followed by a nervous 0-1 win in Tomsk last Monday. The heated encounter in Siberia saw the ref leave hosts with 9 men on the pitch. Eventually Alexandr Bukharov provided the winning goal.
The pitch in Kazan remains arguably the worst one in the Premier League. Weathermen suggest that the minus temperatures will against accompany the match on Sunday. The injury list still features Ryazantsev, Sharonov, Semak and suspended Gorbanets.
Terek Grozny
Terek have also enjoyed a good start by their standards: 4 points in the opening two rounds. After the solid away victory 0-2 against Sibir, they were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Rostov.
The score was opened early in the first half by Shamil Asildarov as Terek had a visible advantage over the visitors. However as the match progressed Rostov calmed matters down and used their only true chance on the 80th minute.
Last year Terek lost to Rubin on both occasions. The defeat 0-4 defeat in Kazan was especially painful. But at that time the team was managed by Anatoly Baidachny’s predecessor Vyacheslav Grozny.
Terek has a fully fit squad and the starting line up should resemble the one used a week ago against Rostov.
Betting advice
I continue betting against Rubin. Long injury list, bad pitch conditions and somewhat improved Terek (in comparison to last year) should give hosts some problems. Value is on visitors here.
