Napoli are 4th, just 2 point behind 2nd placed Lazio, but as the Rome side are likely to win their home game against Atalanta, it is imperative Napoli keep pace with a win. They have an easy looking fixture against Palermo, who are 2nd from bottom. A win also takes Napoli back above Inter, who went 3rd with a win on Saturday.

So obviously enough motivation, but Palermo are desperate too, for differed reasons. They are 4 points clear of last placed Siena but are still stuck in the relegation mix and need to notch some wins to climb out. Unfortunately, the road seems an unlikely place to do it, seeing as they have yet to win an away game this season, losing 7 and picking up just 3 draws.

Napoli have also resigned striker Calaio on loan, and together with Cavani they should form a dangerous partnership for the rest of the season. Napoli have started 2013 well, with a 4-1 home win against Roma, following on from their 2-0 win at Siena to close out 2012. Their h2h against Palermo is dominant, beating them in all 3 meetings last year.

Napoli eased toa 2-0 win the last time Palermo visited, and there were 2 trips to Palermo too, both wins 3-0 and 3-1. The difference in quality and ability is clear, so the only variable is how much the desperation of Palermo will help them here.
