Sunday brings us the Farm Derby between Ipswich Town and Norwich City at Portman Road with not only a precious three points at stake for both sides but also valuable bragging rights for the two sets of supporters.
Following last season’s relegation from the Premier League, Ipswich Town were expected to be amongst the favourites for at least a play-off spot in the Championship this term but the Tractor Boys made a slow start to the new season as the hosts failed to win any of their opening four games.
Three draws and a loss however have been followed by a three-game unbeaten sequence which includes picking up vital wins against Sheffield United and Portsmouth along with a point gained in a 1-1 draw away from home at Bristol City last weekend.
Kieran McKenna’s side also remain unbeaten at home with a record of 2-2-0 10/4.
Norwich City bring a disappointing run of four league matches without a win into this local derby on Sunday lunchtime as The Canaries have picked up points in draws with Coventry City and Stoke City but have also slipped to losses at the hands of Wrexham and West Brom, both of which were on home soil at Carrow Road.
However, Norwich City have performed better on their travels so far this season in the Championship as the visitors have collected two wins and two draws within an overall away record of 2-2-0 6/3 which includes picking up important victories on the road at Portsmouth and Blackburn Rovers respectively.
Norwich’s away form will therefore spur on Liam Manning’s side as they look to walk away from Portman Road with at least a point in their back pocket.
The Betting Verdict
Both Ipswich Town and Norwich City remain unbeaten at home and away respectively and as five of the last eight meetings have ended in stalemate, another draw looks likely on Sunday lunchtime.
