2026-01-09 - Ross Co vs Partick Thistle
A Sports Betting Pick by ArmchairPunter
Football : Scotland: Championship
Venue: Global Energy Stadium
Friday 9th January 2026, 1945hrs (GMT)
Ross County’s game away at Dunfermline last weekend was postponed due to the weather but the upcoming hosts will be hoping a return to their Global Energy Stadium for this encounter with Partick Thistle will bring Stuart Kettlewell’s side an improvement in fortunes.
Ross County have failed to win any of their last three games in the Scottish Championship which consisted of back-to-back losses at the hands of Raith Rovers and Arbroath along with a point gained in a draw with St Johnstone.
With just two wins out of their last nine matches in all competitions, Ross County have it all to do if they are to escape relegation from the Championship as the hosts sit bottom of the table and six points adrift of safety, while they hold a home record of 2-2-7 12/20.
Partick Thistle currently occupy 2nd place in the Scottish Championship table but trail the league leaders St Johnstone by a five-point margin ahead of this upcoming trip to face the basement dwellers.
Partick Thistle will therefore be keen to try and close this deficit on Friday night and having put together a four-match unbeaten sequence in recent weeks, The Jags may fancy their chances of extending this run at the Global Energy Stadium.
A 2-1 win away at Cove Rangers in the Scottish Challenge Cup along with a 3-2 home win against Greenock Morton in the Championship should give Mark Wilson’s side plenty of confidence although an indifferent looking away record of 3-4-3 12/14 throws a little doubt over the visitors being able to secure all three points here.
The Betting Verdict
Ross County with home advantage look a good option for the handicap in this one.
