Werder Bremen
Werder Bremen have four points from their first three Bundesliga matches after beating RB Leipzig 3-1 and drawing 1-1 away at Köln. Their other result was a 4-1 defeat at SC Freiburg in the first round, so Daniel Thioune's side have already shown both sides of their game.
The attack has looked much better in the last two matches. Veteran Niclas Füllkrug scored against both RB Leipzig and Köln, while Werder Bremen also created enough chances to take more than a point in the latest game. They still need to tighten up at the back, though, with six goals conceded so far.
Werder Bremen also have some absences to deal with. Jens Stage, Justin Njinmah and Keke Topp remain out, while Senne Lynen has returned to team training and could come back into contention.
Augsburg
Augsburg have made an excellent start, taking seven points from their first three Bundesliga games and scoring nine goals. They beat Schalke 04 3-0, won 1-4 away against Eintracht Frankfurt, and then drew 2-2 with Bayer Leverkusen last weekend after Michael Gregoritsch scored twice to turn the game around.
Gregoritsch is already Augsburg's record Bundesliga goalscorer after his brace against Bayer Leverkusen, and the Austrian has three goals in the opening three rounds.
Augsburg have also won their last two meetings with Werder Bremen, including a 1-3 away win at this stadium in May.
A few players are missing, however. Anton Kade, Steve Mounié and Sima Suso are out, while Tim Breithaupt remains doubtful.
The Betting Verdict
I'm not sure about taking Augsburg outright, even though the odds are tempting.
Werder Bremen are at home and have looked better going forward in their last two unbeaten games, so I don't want to force a winner here.
I like Augsburg Over 1.5 Team Goals more. They have scored nine in three games, are creating plenty of chances, and now face a Werder Bremen side that has conceded six already.
At odds around 1.95, that is a much better price than taking, for example, 1.40 for Over 2.5 Goals.
