Looks like my first trip to White Hart Lane will not be to cheer on the Arsenal, but I will be jeering kids with cocks on their shirts because for Easter Monday, I'm going to sing like a potty mouthed Canary. High-flying Norwich City are in town to play North Londons other team.
After threatening to cancel St. Totteringhams Day celebrations by climbing way above Arsenal in the table, Tottenham have finally come back down after a horrible run of form that started when they were 2-0 up at the Emirates, looking at opening up a 13 point lead on the Gunners to sit firmly in 3rd. The Gunners roared back, and it's as if something broke in the Spurs psyche because Harry has seen his side pick up just 1 win in their last 7 matches.
It is testament as to how well they had done earlier in the season because Tottenham can still briefly go above Arsenal with a win today, until the Wolves lose to Arsenal on Wednesday, but Tottenham have not been inspiring at all, drawing with Sunderland in their last match, failing even to score. While people like me might talk about the North London rivalry, the main isue for Tottenham is another London team, Chelsea, who are just 3 points behind them now and trying to rob them of Champions League football altogether by finishing 4th.
Tottenham may have 3 draws in their last 4, failing to pick up all 3 points against Stoke, Chelsea and Sunderland, but they did win 3-1 against Swansea, and goals have not been a problem at the Lane, where they are scoring over 2 a game and have a record of 11 wins, 3 draws and just 2 losses. In Van Der Vaart and Adebayor they have a couple of strikers that could do Norwich damage, and Bale of course is always around to change the game. Tottenham are desperate, and I think they will put in a good performance this afternoon.
Paul Lambert will be chuffed to bits as his side are surely safe from relegation now, and looking forward to another season in the top flight. He's done a fine job with the side, and his players have really fought hard all season to get the rewards. Grant Holt, the captain, has been awesome this season, and is actually the 2nd highest goalscorer of all the English players in the Premier League, behind Rooney, and from what I saw first hand in their home game against Wolves, where he scored a cool brace for the come from behind win, he will be a danger here.
Still, as much as I would like to, I cannot suggest a bet on Norwich as it is very unlikely. Spurs are very strong at home and will not lose, but watching Norwich hold Everton to a 2-2 draw was encouraging. Unfortunately, the only win Norwich have secured in 7 games was that game against Wolves, so either I'm going to bring great luck, or Tottenham are going to pick up points today. Norwich have lost 4 of their last 5 road games, including 3 straight, and they have not kept a clean sheet on their travels this term.
BETTING VERDICT
Sorry for the late write up, but I had to do one for this now, and I'm going to suggest you take Both Teams To Score, or take Norwich to stay within the generous AH spread of 1.75 goals at even money.
Or you could take Grant Holt to score at 4.33!
