What is there to say about this game? North Korea is officially a joke after they were slammed 7-0 on Monday while Ivory Coast needs a minor miracle in order to get through to the next round of games.
I can foresee a few goals in this match because North Korea now have nothing left to play for other than pride and this may open the match for the Ivory Coast who will try and make some impression in the 9 goal turnaround they need to overcome as their first obstacle to qualifying.
I think that it is lucky this game is on at the same time as the Portugal-Brazil as the Ivory Coast will go flat stick from the whistle.
Match Analysis
North Korea justified their FIFA ranking of 105 on Monday with defending worse than what I witness in my amateur league and boy is that terrible. They looked a rabble and now have nothing to play for in this match. Some may suggest pride, but I can’t see it and feel the North Koreans may cop another hiding.
At times in the Portugal clash the Koreans threatened, particularly in this first half, but once the second goal was scored early in the second half the floodgates opened. Not a lot more to say about the Koreans who went from imperious against Brazil to delirious against Portugal.
Ivory Coast were cut apart a few times against Brazil and found the going tough from the first whistle. The line-up should be close to unchanged unless Eriksson feels he can make it more aggressive, although it doesn’t seem so.
The likes of Aruna Dindane, Salomon Kalou and Didier Drogba all are pretty attacking and if the coach gives the all clear this could be another shootout but not to the same extent because they lack the class of Portugal.
For me this is a nothing game aside from the bet so I’ll leave the review there.
