Middlesbrough
Boro held Forest on Tuesday night to move up into second place in the table. Mowbray's side trail leaders Palace by just a point and will want to put the pressure on before they play at the weekend with a win over Wednesday.
The hosts are unbeaten in 6 league games and have built up a lot of momentum in their promotion push. Before the draw at Forest (0-0) Boro had won their last 5 league games and have flown up the table.
At the Riverside Boro are unbeaten in 3 winning the last 2 over Hull (2-0) and Bolton (2-1). Only one of the league favourites Leicester (1-2) have come here and won this season and I can't group Wednesday in the Foxes class.
Boro have scored at least 2 goals in all but 1 of their home games this season. In that game they lost to Leicester so it's simple, score 2 and Boro takes the points.
Sheffield Wednesday
Wednesday were really disappointing losing at home to Blackpool (0-2) on Tuesday night. The visitors are managerless and the hosts failed to score a single goal. The loss leaves them in 20th place with a slender 3 point gap to the relegation zone.
Jones's side were on a run of back to back league wins before their midweek loss so the form isn't poor by any means. Still to have a chance of separation at the bottom over a side in decline like Blackpool isn't a chance you get each week in this division.
Away from home their 0-3 win at Ipswich last time out is their only success of the season. Before that it was 4 losses from 5 and it's safe to say Wednesday do their best work away from home.
In 3 of their last 5 away games the side has been shut out but in the other 2 they scored 3 in each! However, those came against an at the time awful Ipswich and Burnley who have an awful defensive line.
Betting Verdict
I'm going to back Boro to win this game and cover the asian line set at -0.75. The hosts are unbeaten 6 winning 5 of those and are on a good run of back to back wins in their last 2 at home.
The visitors are poor away from home, beating Ipswich a poor side but pretty much losing to everyone else. They haven't scored in 60% of their last 5 away from home and that's no good against a Boro side that "always" scores 2 or more at home.
As Boro score a lot of goals and Wednesday can't score many themselves I'll chance the asian line. 2 goals may be enough for Boro but I see them getting chances against Wednesday and this should be a routine home win.
Good Luck
