BETTING PREVIEW
This is a big derby game between two sides from Madrid, but I think the motivation will not be as high in the Real camp. They were 4-1 losers in Dortmund, meaning they have a big 2nd leg coming up where they have everything to do. It's an easier task that Barcelona have, but difficult nonetheless. Distraction isn't the only problem.
Ronaldo has been ruled out of this one, and that is a massive absence that means betting on a Real win is not an option. I wouldn't have anyway, but without him, forget it. Atletico are still just behind Real in the race for 2nd, so they have plenty of motivation to beat their rivals, who they haven't notched a win against in 14 years!
Falcao could be playing his final derby game for Atletico, as there are sure to be big money offers from England for next season, and I have a feeling we'll see him make the move to Blighty. He's a good selection to have a say in this match, so check him out in the goalscorer markets, maybe even the first goalscorer markets, as Ronaldo is out.
Atletico's home form has been excellent, and what I have noticed is that not only do they always score in home games (apart from 1 game), they mostly are the ones to open the scoring. In recent games, I notice they have opened the scoring in all but 2 of their 16 home games. Funnily, Real Madrid have conceded first in 50% of their last 8 games.
THE BETTING VERDICT
Who knows how Real Madrid will respond and fight here after that loss, without their main attacking asset. It's possible they might even find a way to draw or even win, but I can't bet on that.
What I do know is that Atletico have massive motivation, and home form going for them, and I feel they will start well, whatever happens late on. I expect Atletico to win, just about, and the only way they do that is by taking the lead. So let's bet on that.
