2008-04-27 - Everton F.C vs Aston Villa
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Analysis:Everton at one stage were pushing for fourth spot and qualification into the Champions League and now they have dropped to fifth and now having collected just five points from their last six games faces a battle to keep their fifth spot away from the likes of Aston Villa who could leapfrogged them with a win here as well as Portsmouth who are just four points away from them.
David Moyes side have not played since losing to Chelsea 0-1 at home , which was ten days ago and have had enough rest ahead of this game. The likes of Mikel Arteta and Leon Osman could return to the side after recovering from their injuries.
Arteta has returned home after his trip to Spain to receive treatment on a stomach and groin problem while Osman has returned to training after a hip injury. However Australian Tim Cahill has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a foot injury, while James Vaughan (knee) and Andy Van Der Meyde (thigh) are also out for the rest of the season.
Andy Johnson and Yakubu Aiyegbeni are likely to keep their places upfront despite the fact that Everton have scored just three goals in their last six matches.
As for Aston Villa they have been scoring freely as they have scored 15 goals in their last three matches. They started scoring against Bolton a massive 4-0, and then followed it up with a 6-0 win at Derby and 5-1 victory over local rivals Birmingham.
They will welcome back Craig Gardner into the side after he recovered from a thigh injury he sustained while playing for England Under 21, but Martin O’Neill will likely play with the players that have done so well in recent matches.
Ashley Young will lend support to John Carew and Gabriel Agbonlahor upfront especially after he scored two goals against Birmingham and provided two assists. The likes of Gareth Barry, Nigel Reo-Coker and Stilian Petrov will continue in midfield, with Olof Mellberg, Zat Knight, Martin Laursen and Wilfred Bouma starting in defence.
Goalkeeper Scott Carson who is on loan from Liverpool will start in goal.
I will go for Everton to get the win here as apart from the defeat to Chelsea in their last home match, they have beaten Derby 1-0, and even Portsmouth 3-1, not withstanding the fact they drew with west Ham 1-1.
Take Everton and give the 1/4 ball here.
Cheers and good luck,
