Arbroath will go in search of a third league win on the trot in the Scottish Championship on Saturday afternoon when they play host to Dunfermline Athletic at Gayfield Park having recently posted back-to-back wins in the domestic second tier.
Recent victories over Airdrieonians and Ross County have helped lift Colin Hamilton’s side up into 3rd place in the Championship table and early reckoning for a possible challenge in at least the play-offs but perhaps also automatic promotion.
There’s still a long way to go obviously, but Arbroath have produced a promising start to this new campaign with a 1-1 draw at home with Ayr United as well as a 3-1 win on the road at Queen’s Park, so The Red Lichties will be confident about their chances for Saturday.
Dunfermline Athletic will be hoping they can start to transform their earlier form in the Scottish League Cup over to the league as The Pars registered three wins in their four games in Group E, but results in the Championship so far have been unconvincing.
Neil Lennon’s side recorded a 2-0 home win over Airdrieonians but have been involved in two stalemates with Greenock Morton and Ross County along with having been dealt a 2-0 loss away from home at Raith Rovers.
Dunfermline Athletic also finished last season with the worst away record in the Scottish Championship with stats of 2-2-14 8/27, so the visitors will be keen to improve upon that this time around.
The Betting Verdict
Arbroath have lost just once in their last five meetings at home against Dunfermline Athletic in the Scottish Championship along with picking up three wins.
