After being handed back-to-back defeats in the Scottish top flight to Celtic and Falkirk, Motherwell managed to bounce back with all three points with a 2-1 win away from home at Livingston to move within a point of the top six pack in the Scottish Premiership table ahead of these midweek fixtures.
Recent results overall though have been pretty encouraging from Motherwell’s perspective as The Well have slipped to just these two defeats in their last 15 competitive games in all competitions.
A successful League Cup group campaign saw Motherwell pick up four wins on the trot which were followed by subsequent cup wins against St Johnstone and Aberdeen while picking up two wins along with five draws in the Premiership.
A home record of 1-2-1 6/5 suggests Motherwell are capable of holding their own at Fir Park on Wednesday night.
Dundee United currently occupy 4th place in the Premiership table thanks to a 3-1 home win against St Mirren which halted a run of three league matches without a win which consisted of a loss and two draws.
A 2-0 loss at home to Kilmarnock was followed by points picked up in stalemates with Livingston and Rangers in 1-1 and 2-2 draws respectively but the bigger picture shows Dundee United have been dealt just the single defeat in their last seven matches in all competitions.
Previous wins against Dundee and Aberdeen have been further boosted by three draws, two of which were away from home with points picked up at high-flying Hibernian and Rangers amidst a stubborn looking away record of 1-3-0 9/7.
