Football: Russian Premier League
Sunday 12th July 2009 - Kickoff 17:00
Kuban Krasnodar (11th - Home Rec : 3-2-0 3:0)
Mighty Krasnodar brings back the memories of medieval castles – very tough to break down and conquer. Kuban’ is still unbeaten at home in 5 matches, 3 wins and 2 draws with an amazing goal difference of 3-0!
The hot support of the home fans has inspired the players to some big results, such as wins over Spartak Moscow, CSKA and Lokomotiv. Remarkably all the 3 victories came against big opponents, who were a good irritation for Kuban’ and obviously motivated the team more than minor visitors.
Sergey Ovchinnikov should certainly be aware of this tendency and will let his players know in advance, that Spartak Nalchik is no walk over. The head coach is also concerned about his team’s form after Kuban’ lost 2 of their last friendly matches in Austria to Hungarian club “Dyer” and Polish “Legia”.
Alan Kasaev, team’s creative midfielder is suspended. Defensive midfielder Marco Ne is still injured and has not had a single match in the season.
Spartak Nalchik (15th - Away Rec : 0-1-4 1:6)
Spartak Nalchik decided to stay in Russia during the summer break. They only had one friendly match against Terek’s reserve side and won 2-0. Before the break, Spartak had a convincing 2-2 draw vs. Zenit St. Petersburg in Nalchik.
The southern club is situated in the relegation zone at the moment, due to a series of unfortunate results mostly on the road and the inability to convert the “power play” at home.
Spartak is winless away from Nalchik with the record of 0-1-4 and too friendly on home turf: 1-4-1.
The attacking line has also been one of the main issues for head coach Yuriy Krasnozhan, as they have the second worst scoring record in the league after… Kuban’. This makes the upcoming duel even more fascinating: two defensive minded sides will compare their attacking potential
The Betting advice :
Two equally balanced teams here,in my opinion nd with the asian handicap is offering the +0.5 hcp, the value is clearly on the visitors.
Kuban without Kasaev is 25% weaker in offense, while Spartak is a very experienced and tactically wise team.
