Preview
The first two games of this four game Series between these two American League Central rivals have been split with the same 2-0 scoreline each time. The Chicago White Sox (5-9) won the first of those, but the Kansas City Royals (6-8) bounced back on Friday and look to have a significant edge on the mound.
Pitchers are still getting up to full rhythm so there are some ups and downs at this early stage of the season.
The Kansas City Royals will be confident in Michael Wacha who has a 1-0 record and a 0.69 ERA from two starts made in 2026. The veteran has been really consistent in his two years in the Kansas City uniform and there is every chance that Michael Wacha is going to have another solid campaign for the Royals.
He has thrown out 13 Innings in allowing a single run this season, although this is going to be the first time Michael Wacha has pitched at home. The last four starts in this ballpark ended with a 1-3 record for Wacha at the back end of the 2025 season and he allowed eighteen runs in his time on the mound across those, which is something the pitcher will want to move past very quickly.
In two starts against the Chicago White Sox in 2025, Michael Wacha finished with a 1-1 record having kept them scoreless in 7 Innings in the first of those, but allowing three runs in 6 Innings in the second.
The White Sox are going to counter with Erick Fedde who has a 0-2 record and 4.09 ERA in two appearances this season with one of those being in a start.
He will be under some pressure considering the White Sox have lost four of the last five games after a decent start to the season, while the pitcher has allowed five runs in his two appearances on the mound. The latter of those was a little stronger when Erick Fedde threw out 6 Innings and allowed two runs in a narrow loss to the Baltimore Orioles, although he did not factor in the decision that day.
Last season, Erick Fedde gave up four runs in just shy of 5 Innings thrown against the Kansas City Royals, but his two previous appearances against the Royals came in the Chicago White Sox uniform and those were much stronger.
Prediction
Both games have been tight, competitive affairs and this may be another.
However, the Kansas City Royals may have the slight edge on the mound and that can help them win by a couple of runs for the second day in a row.
The Pick :
Kansas City Royals 4-1 Chicago White Sox
