A late run scuppered the first selection of the World Series and that is frustrating when it ended up being a meaningless one in terms of the final result.
However, the Tampa Bay Rays may feel the fact they came so close to turning things around against the much vaunted Milwaukee Brewers bullpen will give them some momentum to take into Game 2. There is going to be a real motivation to avoid being 2-0 down in the World Series before things shift to Tropicana Field on Monday and the Rays will take confidence from the fact they have Drew Rasmussen going to the mound.
This is a full circle moment for Drew Rasmussen who began his Major League career with the Milwaukee Brewers, but who has also pitched the majority of his career with the Tampa Bay Rays. The pitcher has been a key part of the successes the Rays have earned all season, but Rasmussen has been particularly impressive in the Playoffs.
He has long been one of the most consistent pitchers in the Major League, but Drew Rasmussen had very limited post-season experience before the Divisional Round of the 2026 Playoffs. It is something that he has not allowed to be a factor in his performances and Drew Rasmussen has a 2-0 record from the three Playoff starts made and holds a 1.29 ERA in those games.
Earlier this season, Drew Rasmussen threw 5 Innings in this ballpark and allowed a single earned run and the Rays will be hoping he can come out with more authority than Nick Martinez managed in Game 1.
On the other side, the Milwaukee Brewers will be hoping the second of the front line starting pitching crew can pick up from where Jacob Misiorowski left off on Friday.
Logan Henderson is a second year pitcher in the Major League and that has perhaps impacted his level in the post-season having put together eighteen solid starts in the regular season.
The Brewers have won both games started by Logan Henderson, but the pitcher has not earned the decision win in either having thrown for a combined 9 Innings. He has allowed three earned runs and five Walks in those two outings and Logan Henderson has been forced to hand the ball over to the bullpen a little sooner than may have been hoped.
This will be the first time Logan Henderson has pitched against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Prediction
Both teams will be pretty happy with how they performed in Game 1, although the Tampa Bay Rays will be expecting a bit more from the starting pitcher when these two teams face off again on Saturday.
Fifteen Hits were produced by the Rays and Milwaukee Brewers so the batters will feel confident, although Drew Rasmussen does give the visiting team an edge.
If the Brewers are level into the second half of Game 2, they will be confident the bullpen can give them the edge.
However, that will mean Logan Henderson just settling some of the post-season nerves he has displayed and it may be that the Tampa Bay Rays have that advantage into the final three or four Innings and they can level up this World Series at odds against.
