They have won four in a row, but the Orlando Magic (44-36) are still chasing one of the top six spots in the Eastern Conference. There is only a game between them and the Number 5 Seeded Toronto Raptors with two games remaining for all thirty teams in the NBA, but all the Magic can do is win out and see if that lands them a place in the First Round of the Playoffs.
If not, there is still some real momentum behind an Orlando team that is looking healthier than they have for much of the season.
The pile up of wins at the end of the regular season will give the team confidence even if the Magic have to enter the Play In Tournament and they will be looking to host the opening game. That will give Orlando two chances to make it through to the Playoffs to face either the Number 1 or 2 Seed in the East and the Magic have experience that could make them dangerous.
Before thinking too far ahead, the Magic travel to face the injury hit Chicago Bulls (31-49) who have just beaten the lowly Washington Wizards twice in a row. The second of those wins was on Thursday and the back to back spot has certainly contributed to the size of the spread sent out by the oddsmakers.
Overlooking the Bulls- even a shorthanded Bulls- would be a mistake with the way they have continued to scheme up Offensively, but Chicago have been struggling on the Defensive side of the court. That is perhaps no surprise with some of the inexperience needed to make up the roster with so many players out through injury, and it is the main reason the Orlando Magic may feel they can eventually pull clear and cover this mark.
There hasn't been much wrong with the Offensive performances produced by the Orlando Magic in recent outings and they can certainly keep Chicago under pressure, especially on the back to back spot.
However, the Bulls are likely going to contribute to what should be a fun game for the neutral, at least for a short while. Having nothing to lose means teams can set up Offensively in a manner they may not when having more to play for and that freedom can lead to plenty of points at both ends of the court.
A backdoor cover for the Chicago Bulls cannot be completely ruled out, but Orlando look focused and confident and they are capable of covering this spread.
