Liverpool have home advantage for this FA Cup 4th round match against despised rivals Manchester United, against whom they have enjoyed recent success when at home, but they have not had the rest United have enjoyed during the week.
Liverpool were in action trying to finish off Manchester City in their Carling Cup semi-final 2nd leg, and they just about did it, coming from behind twice to draw 2-2 to capitalise on a 1st leg lead. They are now hot favourites to lift the Carling Cup next month over Cardiff, and if they can beat United, who knows, an unlikely Cup double may well await.
It won't be easy though, as Manchester United have also claimed the scalp of Man City, knocking them out of this very competition 3-2 on their own patch. They are also fresh off a 2-1 win over Arsenal at the Emirates. They're travelling well and Liverpool look beatable, especially when you consider the way Blackburn rolled them over.
Liverpool had 3 straight home wins against United before the 1-1 draw this season. Liverpool have not been beaten at home this term, but they have drawn 8 of their 12 home matches and so a draw here looks decent value.
Matches between these two sides always seem to be hotheaded angry affairs, with plenty of cards shown. The last 6 matches at Anfield have produced 4 red cards! There is already a lot of ill-feeling in this match thanks to the racial abuse of Evra at the hands of Suarez, who is suspended and will not play. Emotions will be high and tempers flaring. I don't think we'll see a peaceful match.
