Moldova caused a huge upset on their previous home game when they’ve managed to held favorites Ukraine to a goalless draw to earn their first point in this campaign.

Ukraine missed a host of opportunities in what turned out to be a frustrating evening for them, they’ve even hit the post through Roman Zozulya in the second half, but the hosts held on.

Moldova even moved above Ukraine with their 2-0 victory over San Marino, Ion Caras’ team is now fourth with 4 points to their name.

Moldova obviously has their limits when it comes to their offensive game, they needed 72 minutes to crack minnow San Marino’s defense and the goal came from a penalty.

Montenegro

Montenegro is a pleasant surprise so far in the World Cup qualifiers, last time around they’ve extended their unbeaten run to four games with a 3-0 win over San Marino.

Who would have thought that Branko Brnovic’s side will be leading a group with England, Poland and Ukraine after four rounds?! They can stay in lead after five games as well, Montenegro should have the quality to see off a modest Moldova side.

Montenegro did great on their previous travel picking up three points in Ukraine thanks to a goal from Dejan Damjanovic, but the difference could have been bigger if Jovetic wouldn’t have missed a penalty late on.

Their most important test is yet to come though, on Tuesday they’ll host group favorites England. Even if they’ll lose that match the second place should still be within their reach.

The Betting Verdict

This match should be very much like Moldova’s previous one against Ukraine, with the guests having the initiative trying to crack a stubborn defense.

As I mentioned before, Moldova is quite limited when it comes to their offensive game, they’ve only scored twice so far, against San Marino.

There is a risk of a goalless draw, but Montenegro shouldn’t be as wasteful as Ukraine was, they have a lot of quality in front with the likes of Jovetic, Vucinic, Delibasic or Damjanovic, so I expect them to score at least once and pick up the points that will keep them in the leading seat of group H.
