Barcelona can clinch their 22nd La Liga title this weekend as they are eight points ahead of second-placed Real Madrid going into the weekend but with Jose Mourinho's men at Espanyol on Saturday night if Real Madrid fails to win then they could already be Champions.
However, if Real Madrid does win, then Barca will head to the Vicente Calderon knowing a win will get them the title. But their trip to the Vicente Calderon will not be easy as Atletico Madrid have played well this season and have also secured their place in the Champions League will aim to stop them from winning.
Barca midfielder Thiago Motta was quoted as saying that:
``The Calderon is never an easy place to go to and win. Atletico Madrid are in next year's Champions League and they are through to the Cup final."
With Vilanova again having been away for treatment on his throat cancer a defeat for them here would not be the end of the world, but it would simply delay their victory untilt he last game. A win for Barcelona no doubt would crown them as Champions.
Meanwhile Atletico Madrid have not been able to continue their impressive early to mid season form, but have still remained consistent enough to finish in the top three. Whether that is good enough to tempt Radamel Falcao to stay at the club it remains to be seen.
